Software License Activation

Penzar Development uses a license activation system to help prevent piracy and protect your investment in our software. This enables us to continue developing our products at a competitive price. The license activation system does not collect any details about you or any data stored on your computer. Activation is separate from the optional user registration.

The number of allowed new activations is specified in the software license. Reactivation on the same computer last activated does not require another new activation but the user must provide the last installation ID to Penzar Development. The number of reactivations allowed is subject to reasonable use limitations.

The software must be activated within one year from the delivery or invoice date. Penzar Development may terminate activation services for discontinued products, and obsolete or outdated software versions without notice after seven years.

How It Works

Software license activation is a simple and straightforward process that is completely software based. Only the software serial number and user name are needed to activate. The activation software generates a unique installation ID number based on your PC hardware configuration.

If you activate online, it is a quick process that just requires an Internet connection and your system default web browser. If you would rather activate your software offline, you can do this by selecting the email activation option.

Activation is performed as the last step during the software installation process. If you choose not to activate at this time, you can activate later by opening the "TopSpice" desktop/Start screen icon/tile. The software is not functional until activated.

Online Activation

Online activation requeries an Internet connection and your system default web browser. To activate,

  1. When the "Activation Start" dialog opens, click on the "Activate Online Using Web Browser" button. This opens the "Online Activation" dialog window.

  2. Click the "Request Online Activation Code Using Web Browser" button. The activation software opens your system default web browser with the request URL to the activation server.

  3. If the activation request is approved, the browser window will display the activation code sent by the server.

  4. Click the "Copy To Clipboard" button on the browser window.

  5. Return to the activation window and click the "Paste From Clipboard" button. The activation code shown on the browser will be pasted in the activation code input box.

  6. Click the "Continue Activation" button. You will receive a confirmation message telling you that the installation has been activated.

This process typically takes less than a minute.

If the activation code is not pasted correctly in the input box after clicking "Paste From Clipboard", either your browser does not support the copy to clipboard function or your browser Javascript is disabled.

In this case, you must enter the activation code on the browser window either manually or using the Windows copy and paste shortcut functions (select, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V).

If the online activation is not successful for any reason, you can select the "email activation option" by using the "Go To Email Activation" button.

If you reinstall on the same computer last activated and peform another online activation, the activation will be automatically recorded as a reactivation by the server.

Offline Activation

Offline activation is available for users who need to install on a computer that has restricted access to Internet or prefer not to activate online. You can activate offline by email. Offline activation services are only available during normal business hours.

Offline activation is available only to the original purchaser or registered user. This is necessary to verify the user is an authorized user for the license. If you are not the original purchaser or a registered user, you must provide the following end user information with the activation request:

  • User's full name (must be an individual, not an organization or department)
  • Company/organization name if applicable
  • Mailing address
  • Email address

The end user information is used to authorize the offline activation and register the user.

To activate,

  1. When the "Activation Start" dialog opens, select the "Email Activation" option. This opens the "Email Activation" dialog window.

  2. Click the "Email Activation Request" button.

  3. The activation software opens your system default email client program with the request message containing the activation details. Do not edit this information.

Add the user's full name to the email message body if necessary. If you are not the original purchaser or a registered user, you need to add the end user details listed above to the email message.

If for some reason your email client program does not open correctly with the request message, use the "Copy" button to copy the activation details text to the Windows clipboard. Then, create an email request message and paste the activation details text to the message.

  4. Send the message. Most email requests are processed within one business day (excludes weekends and US holidays).

  5. After you have received the activation code by email, enter the code in the appropriate box on the "Email Activation" window.

  6. Click the "Continue Activation" button.

Reactivation

If you are reinstalling the software on the same computer* it was last activated, a reactivation is performed rather than a new activation. The reactivation can be done online or offline by email.

If you reinstall on the same computer last activated and peform another online activation, the activation will be automatically recorded as a reactivation by the server.

To reactivate by email, follow the email activation process described above.

Note: you can use the same activation code received (either online or by email) to reinstall and reactivate the software on the same computer*. There is no need to request another activation code.

The number of reactivations allowed is limited to a reasonable use policy.

* Same computer means no hardware changes were made to the computer except hard drive replacement.
